[RDD] Why does ripcd run system maintenance routines?

Hi Fred,

I have been meaning to ask about this too.  On a AMD Athlon(tm) II X2,  
ripcd uses between 12 and 20% of the CPU all of the time.  That is  
with none of the rd apps running and the system basically sitting  
there idle.  Is that normal?
